Boarding Checklist
Please note:
This past year there have been outbreaks of kennel cough, dog flu, roundworm, and giardia throughout our area. All kennels, daycares, veterinarians and other pet facilities have had to battle these issues. We are no different. As careful as we are (and we do have the most stringent arrival requirements of any facility in the state), things can happen. Please be patient and follow all entry requirements so that we can better serve you and your pets. We will not accept any pet without hard copies of negative fecal tests (to include giardia and coccidia), and all required vaccinations. If your pet is coughing, please go to your vet immediately! We will not accept them for entry at our facility. If your vet doesn't offer something on our list, go to another vet. We won't accept dogs without their Lepto or Dog Flu vaccines. All vets need to send out the fecal sample to be checked by a lab or the test is not sufficient for entry to SMPR. The lab tests cost more but also show more than a fast vet office test. If your dog is diagnosed with any type of parasites and gets a first treatment, that is still not sufficient for entry. They must go through all treatment and be retested prior to entry. This is why we recommend getting the testing done 2 weeks prior to arrival. It can take 10 days for treatment.
Any dog that regularly goes to doggie daycare will be quarantined for at least 5 days prior to being allowed to play with other dogs. Dogs who show symptoms of kennel cough or dog flu must depart immediately. We'd be happy to transport, if needed.
Our reputation means everything to us. We want the best for your beloved pet and must take precautions. Worms, giardia and coccidia get into the soil and require expensive, time -consuming work to remove. Kennel cough and dog flu can require us to shut down for 2 weeks of sanitizing.

To keep all of our guests safe, we remind you of the vaccinations required prior to intake. You are welcome to print out this check list to help you plan for your pet's arrival:
______ Dog Flu/Influenza
______ Leptospirosis
______ Parvo/Distemper*
______ Rabies*
______ Bordetella (kennel cough)
______ We suggest Coronavirus if your dog is under 1 yr or over 6 yrs.
______ We suggest Lymes as we are in the woods and there's plenty of ticks.
______ We suggest Giardia as all it takes is a lick from a puddle to contract it.
______ And, the all important fecal test done within 2 weeks of arrival; checking for parasites, giardia and coccidia. As it can take 2 weeks of treatment to get your dog clear of these infestations, we suggest you do the test 2 weeks prior to arrival date.*
*The items marked with this * are also the medical requirements for cats. If you plan on bringing your cat, please add the following vaccinations:
_____ Feline Leukemia
_____ FIV
We never allow cats to interact with other felines who are not already household companions of each other.
When you arrive with your dog, you must have proof of all of the above with hard copy. We will not accept records from your vet as they often forget to send them as they're very busy.
If you don't have this documentation, we will refuse to host your dog at our facility. There will be no refund of your deposit as we will be losing a reserved spot that could have been filled by someone else.
We have one of the most stringent intake rules of any pet facility in the state. This ensures the safety of all our guests. While it may be inconvenient, you will be able to rest easy knowing your pet will be safe and healthy.
